Salah- Muslim Daily Prayers

Salaah is the Arabic word which refers to the formal prayers that all Muslims must perform. There are five daily prayers which Muslims must perform at various set times of the each day.

These prayers will give the opportunity to the worshipper in order to distract himself from the worldly activities and reflect on thanking Allah for what we have been given and also to ask Him for anything that we may need.

The prayers are said in Arabic language. However is a new commmer to Islam is not able to say it in Arabic he or she could say in their language until step by step learn who to recite the Salaah in Arabic. Allah say in the Quran: 64: verse 16

“So fear Allah as much as ye can and ( do as Much as you can.); listen and obey “

The Time of the Prayers:

Fajr , or The dawn prayer – performed before the sun fully rises.

Dhuhr The lunchtime prayer - performed after the sun has past its highest point.

‘Asr: The afternoon prayer – performed in the late afternoon.

Maghrib: The dusk prayer- performed just after the sun has set.

‘Isha: The night prayer – performed at night.

It is important to remember that Muslims do not pray for the benefit to Allah, rather they pray for their own benefit. By doing this not only they are fulfilling Allah's commands, but it also bringing great spiritual benefit for themselves.

A Muslim pray as in such a way that, if standing in the presence of Allah. This encourages them to pray to the best of their ability.

When praying, Muslim follows a strict set of sacrament movements. These movements revealed to the Prophet from Allah via Angel Gabriel, the ark angel.

The words in prayers are said in Arabic in order to ensure that everyone recite the exact words that been performed by the prophet. However Muslims are highly encouraged to learn the meaning of these words in their native language as well in order to understand what they are saying, in this way their pray become meaningful.

In Islam there is no need of a priest or imam or any an intermediary. Muslims during or after the prayer can asks Allah directly for anything they need and thank Him directly for what He has bestowed on them.
