Salah- Muslim Daily Prayers

Although in general the five time prayer should be performed in congregation in the mosque,
Muslims can perform their prayer almost anywhere in the world as long as the direction of the prayer is towards the sacred mosque in Makkah.

Praying in a congregation, however, does help Muslims to realise that all Muslims unite as one, and all are equal in the sight of Allah.

Praying in congregation is also believed to bring greater rewards, as much as twenty seven times more than praying alone.

Before a Muslim prays they must make ablution, a ritual cleansing to ensure they are clean for salaah. This is known as Wudhu. Worshipper must wash their hands, mouth, nose, face, arms, head, ears and feet a set number of times before praying.

This reminds Muslims of the fact that they are praying to Allah the Lord of Universe. He who controls the universe, and thus they should be clean and respectable.

Muslims are often reminded that if they were to visit a king or a queen they would make every effort to be presentable, clean and smart. This applies to an infinitely greater extent when standing to pray in front of Allah.

Salaah also helps Muslims in their everyday lives as it helps them to remember their priorities, as well as allowing them to reflect on the world around them, thank Allah for His blessings and to ask for His help and guidance.
